William Grimshaw, an 8th generation descendant of Edward and Dorothy (Raner) Grimshaw, married Rachel Nelson and had five children - Mary Ellen, John Henry, William Thomas, George Arthur, and Josiah Grimshaw. John Grimshaw 1808 - 1849. A weaver, married to Ann Pearson of Calverley, who was a woolsorter in 1851.

Theodosia GRIMSHAW 1831. In 1851 was working as a general servant at Leeds Infirmary,

William GRIMSHAW 1834 - 1919. Described variously as a cornmiller, railway guard and finally a grocer in Leeds.

Rachel Elizabeth NELSON 1830 – 1884. She was the daughter of William, who was a currier, born in Manchester, but moved to Leeds. Her mother was Sarah, the ninth daughter of Christopher CANBY.

John Henry GRIMSHAW 1859 - 1946. Leather dresser. Lived in Leeds, but seems to have retired to Morecambe.

Nelson GRIMSHAW 1896. Leather factor. In the Tank Corps during WWI.

Elizabeth ‘Cissy’ GRIMSHAW. Newspaper item describes her marriage to Maurice De GRAEVE of Ostend in 1920. In 1938 he was described as a leather manufacturer. They lived in Leeds.

Robert Ben GRIMSHAW 1900. Registered as Robert Baden A leather dresser in Leeds.

William Thomas GRIMSHAW 1863 - 1945 According to the census was born in Birmingham. Kept a grocers shop in Leeds.

Percival GRIMSHAW 1888 - 1943. Lived in Hartley Wintney in Hampshire keeping a chemist shop A member of the Masons.

Doris Elizabeth GRIMSHAW 1891. A teacher at Barwick School. Occasionally mentioned in the local history journal, The Barwicker.

David GRIMSHAW 1811. At various times was a policeman, worked for Pickfords in Norwich and then the railways in Leeds. Said to be a member of the Leeds Philosophical & Literary Society.

John Atkinson GRIMSHAW 1836 - 1893. 1858 married his cousin Frances Theodosia Hubbarde, daughter of James Dibdin Hubbarde. Several of their children died quite young and were buried in Woodhouse cemetery. Lancelot George and Elaine were twins born in Scarborough.

Arthur Edmund GRIMSHAW 1865 – 1913. In 1883 appointed as the first Organist and Master of the Choristers at St Ann's Cathedral in Leeds. Also the principal conductor of the Leeds Symphony Society from 1896. For several weeks the Leeds newspapers carried several items regarding his disappearance, until his body was found on Hawksworth Moor.

Elaine GRIMSHAW 1877. Married PHILLIPS and had a son Guy Ragland Phillips. Note that a Guy Ragland Phillips wrote a biography of John Atkinson Grimshaw.

Theodosia GRIMSHAW 1814. Married James Dibden Hubbarde. A newspaper article implied he was related to the author Charles Dibden who wrote “Tom Bowling”. Their daughter Frances Theodosia Hubbarde married John Atkinson Grimshaw. Living in Southampton in 1870 on the death of her husband.
